Today I learned how to use a Theodolite. At present it seems rather straight forward. I imagine it might have been a little more difficult if we had been using the old analog models.
Tomorrow I begin to map out two psudeo-archaeological sites with my mapping team. One is to be done using the theodolite, the other is to be constructed using a good old fashioned compass. I've been looking at the sites using Google Earth in an attempt to get a rough idea of the lattitude and longitude of the site.
I'm rather excited to get out and start doing something more practical. Learning stuff in lectures and readings is fun, but it'll be a nice actually start doing something.
